CHOICE OF MATERIALS

Although woods are certainly chosen for their beauty, they are primarily selected for their mechanical properties. Their rigidity and density has a great effect on the sound of the guitar.

Example of woods required for building a guitar (from left to right):

- Cuyrly maple sides
- Brazilian rosewood head plate
- Brazilian rosewood bridge
- Curly maple back
- Sitka spruce soundboard
- Curly maple neck blank
- Ebony fingerboard
